It is important to understand the JEE counselling process. In the past years, several students who had scored well lost out on seats in top engineering colleges as they did not understand the complete admission process. Here are five things you should not miss to ensure a seat in the top engineering colleges:
Fully Online Process with no Manual Intervention
Seat allocation at IITs and in the NITs is completely online with no manual intervention. This means that you don’t fall for any call/SMS/email claiming to help in the admission process.
Do Not Share Login Details with Anyone
You are responsible for changes made to your account. If you share your login credentials with someone they can misuse it. So, avoid sharing your login credentials with anyone.
Know what Freeze, Float, and Slide mean
Freeze means you are happy with both the institute and the academic programme offered to you. Float means you want to move to a different institute and/or programme from your list (only higher preference). Slide means you would like a better course within the allocated institute.
Be careful of the Certificates You Upload
Invalid certificates will lead to the cancellation of your allocated seat. So, don’t wait till the last minute to get your original caste and income certificates. For OBC-NCL/ EWS candidates, the certificate must be issued on or after April 1, 2023.
Be sure of the Phone Number you Share
Make sure the mobile number that you share during the time of registration is correct as an OTP will be generated on the same. So it is important to give a working mobile number that is accessible. The information regarding seat allocation is also shared through SMS. One may lose a seat if he/she does not check the seat allocation information on the JoSAA 2023 portal.
Check JoSAA 2023 Official Website Regularly
It’s important for candidates to familiarise themselves with the schedule posted on the official JoSAA website. Don’t forget to check the status of seat allocation after each round. It is important to read all the brochures carefully.
Keep checking the official website for the latest updates.
