The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) in Goa has announced a revised admission process for its engineering and pharmacy programs. Previously, admission to engineering courses in Goa’s technical institutes was determined through the Goa Common Entrance Test (GCET). However, for the academic year 2024-25, the admission criteria have been updated as follows:
Engineering (B.E. Degree) Courses:
Admission to engineering B.E. degree courses in Goa for the year 2024-25 will be based on the scores or ranks achieved in the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE-Main) 2024. The JEE-Main 2024 will be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in January and April 2024. Prospective engineering students should take note of this new admission process.
Pharmacy (B.Pharm) Programs:
For candidates seeking admission to B.Pharm or pharmacy programs, the best aggregate score in physics and chemistry from either the JEE Main 2024 or NEET UG will be taken into consideration. Aspirants aiming for admission to B.Pharm courses will have the option to apply for either the NEET UG or JEE Main exams.
The admission process for B.Pharm courses in the academic year 2024-25 will consider the best aggregate score in the subjects of Physics and Chemistry obtained from either JEE-Main 2024 or NEET-2024. Therefore, individuals aspiring to enroll in the B.Pharm course may choose to appear for JEE-Main 2024, NEET-2024, or even both, depending on their preferences.
This new admission procedure signifies a shift towards using JEE Main and NEET UG scores as the primary criteria for admitting students to engineering and pharmacy programs in Goa, eliminating the earlier reliance on GCET for engineering admissions.
