Stay tuned for the latest live updates on JEE Advanced 2023.
Candidates were provided with a time limit of 3 hours to complete JEE Advanced Paper 2. The total marks allocated for Paper 2 were 180. The paper consisted of three sections, namely physics, chemistry, and mathematics, with each section carrying a maximum of 60 marks. Furthermore, each section was further divided into four sub-sections. In Sections 1, 2, and 4, the maximum marks awarded for each sub-section were 12, while in Section 3, the maximum marks for the sub-section totaled 24.
JEE Advanced Paper 2 Analysis
According to Ramesh Batlish, managing partner of FIITJEE Noida, the analysis of JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 is presented below:
Physics: The physics section of JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 was rated as moderate. The questions primarily focused on topics such as waves and sound, wave optics, fluids, electromagnetic waves, thermodynamics, modern physics, current electricity, kinematics, gravitation, and electrostatics. However, the distribution of questions across these topics was not balanced. Some questions demanded lengthy calculations. The overall feedback for the physics section is moderate.
Chemistry: The chemistry section of JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 was considered tricky. There was a higher number of questions from organic and physical chemistry compared to inorganic chemistry. Organic chemistry questions focused on topics such as aryl and alkyl halides, amines, polymers, biomolecules, and oxygen-containing compounds. Inorganic chemistry questions were directly sourced from the NCERT textbook. Physical chemistry questions covered areas like chemical kinetics, ionic and chemical equilibrium, electrochemistry, and thermodynamics. Mixed questions were also included in the paper. The overall feedback for the chemistry section is moderate.
Mathematics: The mathematics section of JEE Advanced 2023 Paper 2 was reported to have unbalanced and tricky questions. The topics covered included functions, differential equations, inverse trigonometric functions, differentiability, vectors, 3D geometry, application of derivatives, complex numbers, matrices, circle permutation and combination, and probability. The overall feedback for the mathematics section is that it was difficult.
