After the postponement of JEE (Main) April and May sessions, there is uncertainty looming over the conduct of JEE Advanced which is scheduled for July 3, 2021. If the exam is supposed to be conducted as per the schedule, then ideally one session of JEE Main was to be conducted in May and another one in June. But as the JEE Main exams have been postponed, the exam date for JEE Advanced will also have to be pushed further.
IIT Hyderabad, which is the South-Zone co-ordinating institute, IIT Bombay for the West Zone, IIT Guwahati for the North-east Zone, and IIT Kanpur for the Central Zone all are under discussion on what is to be done with the dates for JEE (Advanced) exam.
There is a lot of uncertainty relating to the conduct of the entrance exams amid the covid situation. Class 12 board exams as well as several other exams have also been postponed and there is no update regarding the new schedule. As stated by the director of IIT North-central zone “The JEE Advanced 2021 exam has to be postponed as there is no other way to go ahead with the admission in IIT”.
The JEE Main exam was delayed in the year 2020 as well due to the COVID-19 outbreak. Last year, the JEE Main exam was conducted from September 1-6, followed by JEE advanced on September 27. As per discussion across the country, the peak of the second wave of covid-19 is expected to be flattened by mid-June and we would be recovering slightly. Once the second session of JEE Main is held, a few weeks are required for the preparation to conduct JEE Advanced. As per the discussion with the higher authorities, JEE Advanced is likely to be held in September this year as well.
