IIFPT is well known RD and Educational Institution under the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Govt. of India. It was begun as R & D laboratory in the modern rice mill complex of Thanjavur Co-operative Marketing Federation (TCMF) at Tiruvarur. IIFPT Thanjavur Admissions

Indian Institute of Food Processing Technology was established in 1967 at Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu. The college is accredited to Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Chennai. IIFPT Thanjavur follows three types of courses as follows four-year duration B.Tech course in Food Processing Engineering M.Tech two year course in two specializations and Ph.D three year course.

• Candidates with minimum 45% in their 10+2 and which includes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics are allowed to take admission in B.Tech Course.
• JEE Main score is used for admission of students into B.Tech program at the institution.
• The minimum criterion for M.Tech admissions is that the candidates possess BE/ B.Tech degree of relevant branch with first class (70% marks in aggregate) minimum.
• Candidates with ME or M. Tech degree in any related disciplines securing 70% or above can apply for the admission in the Ph. D. program.
• Selection of candidates to M.Tech and the Ph.D. course is done based on the applicant’s performance in the qualifying examination and overall score of the candidate in the written examination as well as interview conducted by the JNTU.
• The merit of the students to each of the offered courses determine the amount of scholarship the college awards to student eligible for it.
