How to get high ranks for admission to NITs?

To secure a seat in one of the top NITs, the candidates are required to get top scores. To achieve those, students need to have a perfect study plan to ace the JEE Main exam. Given are some tips and tricks to secure good marks in the JEE Main Exam.

    Start studying early:

The best way to stay ahead of the crowd is to start with your preparation early. Most students are too relaxed at the beginning of their syllabus that they do not study seriously. Once the exams come near, the pressure builds up, and students get serious in their preparation. When that happens, it is usually already too late. Students who start their preparation early tend to finish the syllabus within time and have enough time left to make revisions and solve practice questions. Therefore, they score high marks in the JEE Mains exams and secure seats in top universities like NITs.

Know the JEE Main Syllabus well:

Before starting the preparation, you must be well acquainted with all parts of the JEE Main 2022 Syllabus. You must know what parts of the syllabus are high-weightage and which ones are least important. There is no doubt that you must study all parts of the syllabus if you want to secure a seat at an NIT. However, paying extra attention to the most important parts of the syllabus by revising them multiple times and solving enough practice questions based on them will give you that extra edge over other aspirants.

    Follow a timetable:

If you wish to have solid preparation for the JEE 2022, you must construct a practical timetable and follow it religiously. Make a list of all the chapters in the syllabus and distribute those over the timetable. There should be a set target for each day. If you fail to hit the day’s target, you must make it a point to complete it over the next few days. Following this strategy will keep you accountable for your actions and also help you to stay on track with the syllabus. Students who follow a well-constructed study schedule are more likely to secure high ranks in competitive exams than those who don’t.

    Follow the right resources:

Choosing the right books to study from is very important when it comes to preparing for competitive exams. Studying NCERT textbooks is a must. Apart from that, you should follow your coaching notes and reference books. For Physics, HC Verma Solutions  is a reliable reference book to follow. For Maths, you can check out RD Sharma Solutions and RS Aggarwal Solutions. After choosing your resources, stick to them. Often, students get distracted by too many resources. Someone recommends a book, and they rush to buy it. Consulting too many books messes up their concepts, and the result is nothing but chaos and confusion. So, please act smartly and avoid such situations at all costs.

    Attend mock tests:

If you want to secure a seat in the top NITs, your preparation must be flawless. So how can you afford to skip the mock tests? Attend as many mock tests as possible. If you want free access to the most comprehensive mock test series for JEE Main 2022, check out this link JEE Mains Mock Tests. After giving a mock test, analyse your paper fully, locate your mistakes, write those down on a piece of paper, revisit the topic those questions are related to and keep on solving questions based on that topic until you achieve perfection. Being smart is not going through the topics you are confident in repeatedly. Rather, find your weak points and convert them into strengths.

    Previous Year Question Papers:

Solving JEE Main Previous Year Question Papers is an important part of JEE Main Exam preparation. Doing so will acquaint you with the JEE Main 2022 Exam Pattern, will teach you time management skills, and enable you to effortlessly solve questions in the paper. It is no secret that a few questions come in the exam directly from the JEE Main Previous Year Question Papers every year or are the same questions but asked with a twist. Even if it is only a few questions, they can help narrow the gap between your score and the score needed to get into an NIT institute.

    Revision:

Have you ever been in a situation where you study a topic but do not seem to recall it after a few days? Well, it happens to all of us! Most often than not, students tend to forget what they studied in a few days, especially when the syllabus of the course is vast as a sea. The problem is not impossible to solve. The solution to it is to revise everything you study diligently. When you revise a topic, the brain stores the information in the memory hub called the hippocampus. Storing the information in this area of the brain makes it less susceptible to forgetting and easier to recall. This is another reason you should commence the preparation early and study every day. If you do not study consistently, you will lag behind and find it quite difficult to go through the syllabus once, let alone get time to revise it.

    FAQs

    1. Who conducts the counselling process for the JEE Main Exam?

NITs admission process is conducted through the counselling of JEE Main carried out by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Candidates are selected for counselling based on their merit in the JEE Main exam. After getting selected, they must complete an online registration to be able to participate in the counselling process. During filling out the choices on the form, candidates can fill in their choice of institutes. If they have ranks that correspond with the institute they selected, they will get admission into it as the candidates are allotted seats as per their ranks, locked choices. The whole process is subject to the availability of seats in the respective college or institute.

    2. Why is making your own notes recommended?

Making notes is very beneficial for students to score high grades on exams. It helps the students in learning the syllabus actively. During the course of preparation, students refer to many books, but when the exams come near, and anxiety strikes, it becomes impossible to refer to all those books for revision. In such a situation, having access to a source that students can rely on at the last moment is a blessing. The notes are a compilation of everything the student has studied. It is very important to make clear and precise notes they can comprehend to derive maximum benefit from them.

    3. Why is giving mock tests important?

Giving mock tests is important because it allows the students to practise the whole process of giving the exam. The question pattern, time duration, and difficulty level of the mock papers resemble the real exam to a very great extent. Having solved similar papers before, students experience a boost in their confidence, and when they sit in the exam hall, it just feels like they are given another mock test. Mock tests also teach the students time management skills and the art of finishing all the questions within a set time. Students who attend mock tests regularly have a better chance of cracking competitive exams than students who don’t.

    4. What are the dos and don’ts for the JEE Main Exam?

    Do’s:

    1. Start the preparation early
    2. Study every day
    3. Solve Previous Year Question Papers
    4. Study the NCERT textbooks thoroughly
    5. Make your own notes

    2. Do not fall prey to distractions
    3. Do not waste time on social media
    4. Do not follow too many academic resources
    5. Do not lose your confidence levels because of negative people in your life

    5. What is the JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2022?

    1. Students must have qualified for the 12th class exam or equal exam in 2020 or 2021 with Physics, Maths, and any one of the subjects Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, and Vocational subject.
    2. There is no age limit to appear in the JEE Main Exam. Any student who has passed the exam as mentioned earlier is eligible to appear for JEE Mains 2022 Exam.
