Aspiring medical students all over India are gearing up for NEET-UG Exam 2023. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) is a highly competitive exam that determines the fate of lakhs of students who wish to pursue a career in medicine. Scoring good marks in the NEET exam is a must for students to get a seat in their desired medical college. However, this is not as easy as it seems. The NEET exam also has the negative marking criteria, which means that for every incorrect answer, marks get deducted.

In this case, minimizing the scope of negative marking in the NEET 2023 answer sheet can be of great help in scoring high in the exam. To help students reduce negative marking in NEET-UG Exam 2023, here are the five tips that can be followed by the NEET 2023 aspirants:

    Practicing Previous Year Papers:

One of the most effective ways to reduce negative marking is by practicing previous years’ NEET test papers. It helps students get a clear idea of the exam pattern and the types of questions asked. Students can also get an understanding of the level of difficulty of the exam and identify the areas where they need to improve.

    Learning Time Management Skills:

NEET-UG Exam 2023 has a strict time limit of 3 hours and 20 minutes, which means that students need to manage their time effectively. Students need to allocate their time according to the difficulty level of the questions. It is better to attempt the easier questions first and leave the difficult ones for later. This way, even if a student is unable to complete the paper, they will have attempted the easier questions which will be correct and this trick can thus reduce negative marking.

    Reading the Question Paper Carefully:

In a rush to complete the paper on time, students often make mistakes while reading the question paper. It is important to read the questions carefully and understand them before attempting the answer. Students should also pay attention to the language of the question, as sometimes even a small mistake in interpretation can lead to negative marking.

    Eliminating Options:

If a student is unsure about some questions, it is better to eliminate the options that he/she feels are clearly wrong. This can reduce the probability of marking the wrong answer and therefore can reduce negative marking. In a state of unsurety, it is better to leave the question.

    Focusing on Accuracy:

Students should aim for accuracy rather than attempting all the questions. It is better to attempt less number of questions with a higher accuracy rate, rather than attempting all the questions and getting many of them wrong. This can reduce negative markings and increase the overall score.

    The Conclusion

Reducing negative markings in NEET-UG Exam 2023 requires careful planning, preparation, and focus. Students should practice past papers, manage their time effectively, read the questions carefully, eliminate options, and aim for accuracy. By following these tips, students can reduce negative marking and increase their chances of success in the NEET-UG Exam 2023.
