The Class 12 board exam dates for the year 2024 have been officially released by the educational board. For those aspiring to further their studies in engineering, medicine, or undergraduate (UG) programs, it is imperative to prepare for the upcoming national-level entrance examinations. These include the Joint Entrance Examination – Main (JEE Main 2024), the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET UG 2024), and the Common University Entrance Test (CUET 2024), all of which are administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
In 2024, the National Testing Agency (NTA) will oversee the administration of various entrance exams tailored to specific academic pursuits. The JEE Main 2024 examination, conducted by NTA, serves as the gateway to admissions in BTech, BE, BArch, BPlanning, and related engineering programs. For aspiring medical students, the NEET 2024 exam, also managed by NTA, is the path to securing seats in MBBS and BDS programs.
Moreover, NTA is responsible for conducting the CUET UG 2024 examination, which plays a pivotal role in the admission process for undergraduate programs in central universities and other participating institutions. Worth noting is that the CUET examination, initiated by the University Grants Commission (UGC) in 2022, has gained prominence as a standardized assessment tool for undergraduate admissions.
In 2023, the JEE Main examination was conducted in two sessions, with the first session taking place on January 24, 25, 28, 29, 30, 31, and February 1. The second session, known as the April session, occurred on 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12. Meanwhile, the NEET UG examination took place on May 7 of the same year, with registration opening on March 6. In contrast, the CUET UG 2023 examination, administered by the NTA, spanned from May 21 to June 23.
NTA exam calendar for JEE, NEET, CUET
However, the debut of the CUET UG exam was marred by technical glitches, and the scheduling of JEE and NEET had to be postponed multiple times due to conflicts with board exams and other competitive examinations. In response to these challenges, the NTA established two committees to investigate the issues and find solutions. Additionally, the government planned to create a well-defined calendar for the scheduling of these national-level entrance exams to prevent such conflicts in the future.
NTA unveiled its comprehensive exam calendar for prominent assessments, including JEE, NEET, and CUET, in response to recommendations made by the committee. This announcement occurred last year and included the scheduled dates for these pivotal examinations. Moreover, alongside the primary exam dates, the NTA thoughtfully released backup dates in the event of any potential postponements or extensions.
Jagadesh Kumar, the Chairman of the UGC, emphasized the NTA’s commitment to providing ample preparation time for students and averting scheduling conflicts between board examinations and competitive entrance tests. He stressed that NTA would proactively disclose the dates for these significant entrance exams well in advance to facilitate students’ preparation and minimize disruptions.
Hence, students in Class 12 from various educational boards who are preparing for entrance examinations leading to BTech, MBBS, and undergraduate admissions can anticipate the prompt release of the JEE Main 2024, NEET UG 2024, and CUET UG 2024 examination dates. These updates will be conveniently accessible through the official NTA website at nta.ac.in or the respective dedicated websites, including jeemain nta.nic.in, neet.nta.nic.in, and cuet.samarth.ac.in.
It’s noteworthy that in the previous year, the NTA disclosed the examination dates for JEE, NEET, and CUET on December 16. However, the new Director General of NTA, Subodh Kumar Singh, conveyed to the Times of India that there is a likelihood of conducting these exams earlier than usual, owing to the growing number of institutes opting for CUET UG 2024. As a result, students can anticipate the announcement of examination dates for all three major entrance tests in the forthcoming months.
