The Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) has announced the ‘Bochhor Bachao’ (Save-a-Year) exams for Class 10 and 12 students. These exams are expected to be held in the last week of July. Students must fill out the exam forms and submit them to their respective schools between July 8 and 11.

Of these, 747 students had their results changed, with 21 students qualifying and seven placed in the ‘Bochhor Bachao’ exams. For Class 12, 1,385 students applied for a review, but none passed, and only one was placed in the ‘Bochhor Bachao’ after review.
Tripura Board of Secondary Education Pass Percentages
After the review, 3,199 Class 10 and 4,236 Class 12 students will take the ‘Bochhor Bachao’ exams. Dr. Dulal Dey, TBSE secretary, noted that the pass percentage for Class 10 is now 87.59%, a slight increase from the initial results announced in May.
Context and TBSE Bochhor Bachao Background
The ‘Bochhor Bachao’ exams are particularly significant this year due to the poor performance of schools that recently shifted affiliation from TBSE to CBSE under the Vidyajyoti scheme. The state government has announced remedial measures, including special classes and a modernized education approach. Opposition parties have criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government for these poor results.
The TBSE’s ‘Bochhor Bachao’ exams offer a valuable second chance for students to continue their education despite initial setbacks. With the exams scheduled for the last week of July, students have a limited window to prepare and submit their forms. This initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to ensuring educational opportunities for all students, even those who face academic challenges.
