About NIT Warangal

NIT Warangal, established in 1959, is a recognised public technical university, and it is the first in the chain of 31 NITs. The campus of the institute sprawls over a land of about 248 acres, located in Warangal, Telangana, India. NIT Warangal is a fully residential institute with nearly 6000+ (UG & PG), and 1000+ (PhD) students. Currently, the institute has 13 academic departments in various disciplines such as Engineering, Science, and Management. Among all, the flagship program of the institute is BTech, and admission to this course is done through the JEE Main score. In addition to this, NIT Warangal offers other programs like MTech, MSc, MCA, and MBA programs through the GATE, IIT JAM, NIMCET, and MAT scores.

NIT Warangal Overview

Earlier known as the Regional Engineering College, Warangal, NIT Warangal was established in the year 1959 and it was one of the 15 Regional Engineering Colleges established in the country for technology courses. 

The classes in the permanent setup of the institute were started in 1963 for the courses Chemical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering that were first started in the college. It was earlier affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University which later changed its affiliation to Kakatiya University. 

In 2002, this university received the deemed university status and later it was renamed as NIT Warangal (National Institute of Technology, Waragal) in 2002.
