How NTA Allots NEET Exam Centres in Tamil Nadu

You have already chosen the places you like for the NEET exam centres in Tamil Nadu 2026 when you applied. Now, NTA will really decide which centre you will get. 

But don’t fret, they don’t just give you a centre by chance. Here are a few things that help decide:

• The Seat Count: How many desks are physically available in a specific city?

• Your Address: The system tries to keep you close to the permanent or present address you provided in the form.

NTA analyses the data after the application form is closed, and then they first release the city intimation slip, so that you get enough time for relocation to that city. 

After that a few days later the admit card is released. Once the admit card is in your hands, you won’t be able to change your allotted centre, so it’s a good idea to plan your commute as soon as you see the address.

Important Guidelines for NEET Exam Centres

When you are feeling stressed, it is easy to miss some small things, but these little misses can really mess up your special day. To stay calm and think clearly, remember these rules:

• The gates open at 11:00 AM and lock tight at 1:30 PM. Don’t be late.
• No one gets in without a physical, printed admit card and a real ID like your Aadhaar.
• Stick to light, half-sleeve clothes. It makes the security frisking much faster.
• Leave your phone, calculator, and even digital watches at home. They are strictly forbidden.

Can You Change Your NEET Exam Centre in 2026?

Many times students realise after submitting the form that the exam city they selected is not convenient. In that case, the change can only be made through the NEET correction window provided by NTA.

The correction window for NEET 2026 is opening from March 12 to March 14, 2026.

Steps to update the exam city:

• Open the official website neet.nta.nic.in
• Log in with your application number and password
• Go to the application correction option
• Update your exam city choices (maximum four)
• Verify the change using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number
• Submit the updated form
• Download the new confirmation page

Note: Changes are allowed only during the correction window, and once the admit card is released, the exam centre cannot be changed.
