NEET UG 2025 Counselling is in progress for those students who have passed a NEET exam. It is a crucial move in case you seek any of the following courses—MBBS, BDS and other medical programs all over India, under the 15 percent All-India Quota (AIQ).

What is NEET UG 2025 Counselling Round 1?
The process of allocating seats in medical colleges to the candidates on the basis of NEET rank, preferences and category is known as NEET UG 2025 counselling. The first stage of this process is called Round 1.
In this round, they are required to log in, submit the counseling fee, fill in their college and course preferences and lock the same within the time frame.
This round is for admissions under the 15% AIQ and colleges that fall here include AIIMS, JIPMER, BHU, AMU, ESIC, AFMC and other government/deemed universities nationwide in India.
NEET 2025 Counselling Round 1 Last Date: When is the Deadline?
As per the latest update from MCC, the last date to register and fill choices is 3rd August 2025. Below are the deadlines:
- Registration ends at 01:00 PM on 3rd August.
- Fee payment ends at 3:00 PM on 3rd August.

- Choice locking window is from 6:00 PM to 11:55 PM on the same day.

Steps to Register for NEET UG 2025 Counselling Round 1
Here are the steps you should follow to register for the counselling:
- Visit the official website—mcc.nic.in.
- Click on “UG Medical Counselling” and then on “New Registration.”
- Enter your NEET roll number, application number, and other details
- Create a password and complete your registration
- Log in using your new credentials
- Fill in your personal details
- Upload required documents
- Pay the counselling fee using net banking, credit/debit card, or UPI
How to Fill and Lock Choices for NEET 2025 Counselling?
After registering and paying the fee, the next step is choice filling and locking. Follow these steps:
- Log in to the MCC portal
- Click on “Choice Filling & Locking.”
- Select the colleges and courses based on your preference
- Arrange them in order of priority (most preferred at the top)
- Save your choices regularly
- On 3rd August 2025 between 4:00 PM and 11:55 PM, click “Lock Choices.”
- Take a printout of the locked choices for future use
Note: If you do not lock your choices, the system will automatically lock your last saved choices after the deadline.
Why Did MCC Extend NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Registration?
Initially, the registration cutoff was July 31, 2025. However, numerous students encountered the difficulties because of massive traffic on the portal, slow servers, and confusion about last-minute time.
MCC was able to give the students an additional three days by announcing the deadline of 3rd August, 2025, to help prevent losing good candidates.
This extension has come in handy but chances are that it will not be extended again and therefore those students should take all necessary steps before the deadline.

What Happens After NEET UG 2025 Round 1 Choice Locking?
Once you lock your choices, MCC will begin the seat allotment process. Based on your NEET score, category, preferences, and seat availability, MCC will assign you a seat in a medical college.
You can check the Round 1 result on 6th August 2025. If you are allotted a seat:
- Download your provisional allotment letter.
- Report to the college between August 7 and 11.
- Carry original documents for verification.
- Pay admission fees at the college.
Failing to report during this period will result in cancellation of your seat.
