J.K. Institute of Applied Physics and Technology is situated in the premises of the Muir College Campus (Science Faculty) University of Allahabad. Set up on April 14, 1949 by the late Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru under the J.K. The institute started a Computer Science course in 1986 under one of the DRDO projects by the title, ‘Manpower Development in Computer Science’. Out of the 130 shortlisted teams, only two teams from the institute performed in the final stage. In the “Pothole Filler” category, the team JK ALD Automotors under Bhaskar bagged the first prize. Likewise, JK Iceminds emerged to the second runner up in the “Room Cleaner” category.

• The institute’s contigent of dancers clinched the first place in the theme-based group dance competition held at the university’s cultural fiesta IIIT-A.
• Yash Tamta also stands second at the national level in the JAM examination conducted at the MNNIT Allahabad.
  Siddhant Raman, an ECE student of the Institute in the 2012 batch, secured an All India GATE 2012 Rank of 18.
