Ghani Khan Choudhury Institute of Engineering & Technology or GKCIET originated in 2010 at Malda and it was set up as an autonomous institute totally supported by the MHRD. The present of a programme in the, GKCIET Malda offers five Diploma courses and three B. Tecnology Programmes. The 4-year B.Tech programs offered at the Institute are approved by MAULANA ABUL KALAM AZAD UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY (MAKAUT), WEST BENGAL FORMERLY KNOWN AS WBUT and 3-years diploma courses are approved by the WEST BENGAL STATE COUNCIL OF TECHNICAL & VOCATIONAL EDUCATION AND SKILL DEVELOPMENT, KOLKATA. All programs undertaken at the college are by entrance.
GKCIET Overview
The Entrance Exams accepted for admission are JEE Mains, WBJEE, JEXPO and GKCIET Entrance Test. In case of Lateral Entry, that is admission straight to the second semester of the B.Tech and Diploma programs is deemed possible through the JELET and VOCLET counseling at present.

GKCIET Admissions
- Students admitted to courses offered under the programme on the basis of merit on the test. Admissions to the B.Tech programs are done through the following examinations:
- All the candidates of West Bengal who want to take admission in B.Tech programs must appear for the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) and Admission will be done on the basis of WBJEE Counselling.
- Candidates of other states apart from West Bengal applying for any of the B.Tech programs are supposed to write the Joint Entrance Examinations and admissions are offered as per the CSAB/JoSSA Counselling.
- West Bengal candidates applying for this Diploma Programmes have to appear in JEXPO with admission being given according to the counseling of the examination.
- Any other state candidates who want to seek admission in Diploma Programmes should write the GKCIET Entrance Test (GET).

GKCIET Scholarships
Some of the scholarships that students of GKCIET can apply to include:
- Aikashree: It is available for the students from the West Bengal Minorities’ Development & Finance Corporation & Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department. The applicant should have passed with at least 50% in the previous exam and take home income calculated at max 2 lakhs per annum.
- Oasis: The scholarship is offered by either the Backward Classes Welfare Department or the Tribal Development Department together with the Govt. Of West Bengal.
Kanyashree: West Bengal government is authorized to provide this. It offer a One Time Grant of Rs.25000/- to girl who are in between age of 18-19yrs least marriage, unmarried and having annual income less than 120000/- ₹. - Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means: This is available in the government of West Bengal. Family income criterion applies an undejusted upper limit of Rs.2,50,000/- per annum for every family. Such candidates choosing these scholarships and gets qualified will not be eligible for any other governmental (central/state) scholarship or stipend during take the same course/stage of study.
- Chief Minister Relief Fund: It is offered by Nabanna Scholarship WB CMO Chief Minister Relief Fund West Bengal.
GKCIET Hostel
The Institute is developing Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel within the campus. Actually, construction work is in progress and is likely to be completed in the next two and half year up to July 2020. The G+3 Boys Hostel will have 109 numbers of rooms out of which 95 will be twin-sharing and 14 will be triple-sharing the accommodation capacity of the Boys Hostel will be around 267 students. Likewise the G+3 Girls Hostel will also be providing accommodation to approximately 260/90=2/3 students.
GKCIET Facilities
Some of the facilities include:
- The Central Library: The library has a title capacity of 1300 and volume capacity of 9000 and size of 5000 sq. ft. This is the only library in North Bengal region under CFTI to support the teachers, research scholars and the students for their research and higher learning according to their requirement by issuing books, journals and other documents.
- Transport Facility: Institute transportation of bus facility available from Malda Town from two pick up points Rathbari and Arabinda Park (Archana Chatrabas). Two buses start at 8:Come at around 10 am and 8:00 am respectively for the up journey towards college and get to college by around 8:40 am. These include buses with 50 seat capacity each. The buses start their down journey with the students at 4:30 pm and 5:00 pm respectively.The institute has a Medical officer appointed for the job having M.B.B.S degree The institute also has a MoU with Moulik Nursing Home which is a medical partner of the institiutions situated nearby and is available for 24 hours in case of any emergenct.y providing books, journals and other documents to the teachers, research scholars and students.
