The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced that the forthcoming Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is tentatively scheduled for January 2024. The official notice is available on the NBEMS website at natboard.edu.in.
The official notice states that the applicants interested in appearing for the next Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) are hereby informed that the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) plans to conduct the FMGE tentatively in January 2024. The examination will be administered on a Computer-Based Platform at various test centers across the country.
As of now, no specific date has been provided for the examination. Typically, FMGE is held in December, but for reasons that are currently undisclosed, it has been postponed to January 2024 this time.
The NBEMS recently concluded the online application process for FMGE 2023 on October 25. Additionally, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has specified that all candidates seeking eligibility certificates must apply through the NMC website. The requirement for an eligibility certificate can be confirmed by referring to the public notices dated December 11, 2018, and April 5, 2019, on the NMC website.
The medical commission conducts FMGE twice a year, allowing both Indian and overseas applicants to obtain provisional or permanent registration from either the Medical Council of India (MCI) or the State Medical Council (SMC). This registration is necessary for individuals intending to practice or study medicine in India.
