Pambupatti, a village in the story developed a different kind of world where varied people lived together happily in perfect harmony irrespective of any reason. The lesson is a story of religious harmony that has been depicted through reptiles who lived in Pambupatti, and their story is retold by an old man to a boy named Prem who suffered through religious riots in his village. Pambupatti was the land for reptiles alone where Makara was the crocodile who ruled it. He was the most powerful and was the biggest. One day, Makara held a meeting and told the tortoises to leave the forest as they were stupid and slow. After a few months, he repeated it for snakes. Gradually, he told every animal to leave except crocodiles so that no one could ever dare to go against him. When all the animals left, the forest became full of foul smell, rats and insects. Seeing the plight of the jungle, other crocodiles decided to call back all the animals into the forest, and all the animals came back, and the forest was back to normal again.
Hearing this, Prem changed his mind and decided to share his learning with his people to help them understand what living in harmony is in a society.
