NCERT Solutions for Class 6th English Chapter 3: Taro's Reward
The third chapter of honeysuckle is a retold Japanese story which talks about a boy named Taro, who is very hardworking and obedient. Taro is a boy who works very hard to fulfil all the wishes of his parents so that he can see them happy and content in their son and the story further tells how he is rewarded later in the story for his obedience, hard work and dedication towards his parents. The story is short and sweet and teaches a very valuable lesson to students of class 6th that parents should always be respected and that they should listen to them to be a good and obedient child so that they can be rewarded for the efforts they put in as well to be a good child in their family.
- The story comes from the Asian culture and contains Asian values as well, with a hint of magic. The story is heart-warming and easily gains the attention of students which can be utilised further by engaging them in activities while telling the story such as drawing attention to situations in which they can see themselves.
- They can also be made to elicit comments on and reactions to hard work, sincerity, care and respect for the elderly, especially one's parents.
- Learners can be made to read and reread relevant portions of the text to answer questions and can discuss the questions in 'working with language' to arrive at appropriate responses to the items.
- The chapter also contains a tongue-twister in a speaking activity which is made to interest the students. The children may be encouraged to find more of them in their language as well as English for a group project.
