Chapter 1 of Maths NCERT book is based on Real Numbers and Irrational Numbers. This chapter introduces students with the concepts involved behind real numbers and Irrational Numbers. This creates a base for their 10 Class Maths Syllabus. The chapter also majorly consists of Euclid’s Division Lemma. This fundamental theorem is used to calculate the HCF of two positive integers. The other topics covered in Chapter 1- Real Numbers are Euclid’s division lemma, Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic, Proofs of the irrationality of √2, √3, √5 Decimal representation of rational numbers in terms of terminating/non-terminating recurring decimals.

Chapter 2-Polynomials covers the definition of degree of the polynomial, linear polynomial, quadratic polynomial and cubic polynomial. The chapter has 4 exercises but the fourth exercise is provided as optional to students. The optional exercise has 5 questions which direct the students to find zeros of Polynomials. The other exercises are compulsory and require verifying the relationship between the Zeroes and the coefficients.

The chapter 3 in Maths Class 10 syllabus starts with an introduction of Linear equations and mentions the concepts behind them. This chapter has 7 exercises in total. The chapter covers topics like Pair of linear equations in two variables and graphical method of their solution, consistency/inconsistency. Algebraic conditions for the number of solutions. The solution of a pair of linear equations in two variables algebraically – by substitution, by elimination and by cross multiplication method.

Chapter 4 contains a total of 4 exercises which include 24 questions. In this chapter, students will learn quadratic equations and how students can find their roots. For these students will also learn factorisation methods. The chapter states that Standard form of a quadratic equation is ax2 + bx + c = 0, (a ≠ 0).

The Chapter 5 in Maths NCERT Class 10 book covers topics like Motivation for studying Arithmetic Progression Derivation of the nth term and sum of the first n terms of A.P. and their application in solving daily life problems.

The Chapter 6 in Maths NCERT Class 10 book talks about all sorts of triangles and figures which have the same shape but may not be the same in size and dimensions. Pythagoras Theorem and converse of Pythagoras Theorem is also described in detail in this chapter.

Find the distance between two points whose coordinates are given, and to find the area of the triangle formed by three given points. Along with this, students will also study how to find the coordinates of the point which divides a line segment joining two given points in a given ratio.

Trigonometric ratios of an acute angle of a right-angled triangle. Proof of their existence (well defined); motivate the ratios whichever are defined at 0o and 90o. Values of the trigonometric ratios of 300, 450 and 600. Relationships between the ratios. Proof and applications of the identity sin2A + cos2A = 1. Only simple identities to be given. Trigonometric ratios of complementary angles.

Chapter 9 of Maths of Class 10 consists of Simple problems on heights and distances. Problems should not involve more than two right triangles. Angles of elevation/depression should be only 30°, 45°, 60°.

This chapter is in continuation of what students have learnt about circles in previous classes. In this chapter, students will study the different circumstances that arise when a circle and a line are given in a plane. Concept of Tangent to a Circle and Number of Tangents from a Point on a Circle is explained thoroughly here in this chapter.

The chapter 10 covers Topics like Division of a line segment in a given ratio (internally), Tangents to a circle from a point outside it, Construction of a triangle similar to a given triangle. This chapter consists of 2 exercises in total.

This chapter includes concepts of perimeter and area of a circle. Using these concepts, the chapter further explains how to find the area of sector and segment of a circular region. This chapter focuses on giving students the knowledge of finding the areas of some combinations of plane figures involving circles or their parts.

In Chapter 13, there are a total of 5 exercises. The first exercise consists of the questions based on finding the surface area of an object formed by combining any two of the basic solids, i.e cuboid, cone, cylinder, sphere, and hemisphere. The last exercise is provided as optional and has high-level questions based on all the topics of this chapter.

In Chapter 14, students are taught the numerical representation of ungrouped data to grouped data and finding the Mean, Mode and Median. The chapter also talks about the concept of cumulative frequency, cumulative frequency distribution, and how to draw cumulative frequency curves will be explained as well.

This is the last chapter in Class 10 Maths Syllabus. The classical definition of probability. This chapter focuses on simple problems on finding the probability of an event.
