NCERT Solutions for Class 6th English Chapter 6: Who I am?

Get

The sixth chapter of honeysuckle deals with the concept of individuality. It brings us in acknowledgement with who we are by describing six persons- Radha, Nasir, Rohit, Serbjit, Dolma and Peter each having their distinct personalities. Radha is the rebellious girl who likes to climb trees, Nasir is the curious one who is interested in understanding how cotton cultivation works, Rohit likes to travel, Serbjit usually stays upset with most people because of which he comes across as untrustworthy, Dolma is the ambitious one who wants to serve the country and Peter is the relaxed person who comes from a rich family.
The chapter sheds light on the uniqueness of people in their sense and how they need to respect and cherish their unique aspects. The chapter makes us understand that everyone has some skills and talents, and they need to be nurtured in a specific way to understand ourselves better as individuals.

  • This lesson is slightly different, which goes beyond the normal teaching process of reading and explaining. Instead, this chapter needs to be approached by the children reading it by themselves first followed by an interaction on the same.
  • It matters little whether they understand all of it or none. The lesson is about individuality and confidence-building and to help children understand the idea of multiple intelligences and how every child is different and unique.
  • As they read and hear voices of children describing themselves and see the varied typefaces, they will learn to appreciate differences among themselves and towards the informal style of talking about themselves.
