CUET Exam Pattern 2024 (Revised): Negative Marking, Duration, Total Marks, Exam Structure, Marking Scheme

The CUET exam pattern is unveiled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in conjunction with the notification and information brochure. Scheduled from May 15, 2024, to May 31, 2024, the CUET 2024 exam will adopt a hybrid mode starting from the UG level. According to UGC Chairman, M. Jagadesh Kumar, "For subjects with higher registration percentages, we will introduce OMR (MCQ). This approach will facilitate the examination for those specific subjects in a single day and a single shift for all candidates." CUET UG 2024 will comprise three sections, featuring objective-type Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). The language of the CUET 2024 question paper will be English, and candidates can choose from 12 regional languages. Each question will carry a weightage of five marks, with a negative marking of one mark for each incorrect response.

It is essential for candidates to recognize that CUET UG will consist of Section 1A, Section 1B, a General Test, and domain-specific subjects. Section 1A, which is mandatory, will be conducted in 13 languages, providing candidates with the flexibility to choose their preferred language. Candidates are allowed to opt for up to six subjects, encompassing three domain subjects, two languages, and the general test.

CUET Revised Exam Pattern

NTA has made the following changes to the CUET Exam pattern and the details are given below:

1. The CUET exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

2. CUET Exam 2024 will consist of 4 key sections:

  • Section IA - 13 Languages (As a medium and “Language”)
  • Section IB - 20 Languages
  • Section II - 27 Domain-Specific Subjects
  • Section III - General Test 

3. A Candidate can take a maximum of 9 Tests in the following manner

  • Maximum of 02 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 06 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III. 
  •  Maximum of 03 languages from Section IA and Section IB taken together, maximum of 05 Domain Subjects from Section II and General Test from Section III. 

4. The CUET 2024 question paper will be in the Multiple Choice Question format.

CUET UG 2024 Question Paper Language

The CUET UG 2024 will be conducted in 13 languages like last year which are mentioned below:

CUET 2024 Exam Structure

According to the CUET exam schedule for 2024, there will be two time slots available for the CUET: morning and afternoon. The CUET entrance exam 2024 will be conducted on multiple days. The students won't be permitted to take the same subject test in a different time slot again.
