NCERT Solutions for Class 6 English Poem Chapter 6: The Wonderful Words

Man is a rare gifted animal that can think and speak. Every person knows one language as it is an important skill to give expression to thoughts, ideas and feelings by the use of a language. Everyone can think and speak. The poet advises its readers to work on their language and learn it skillfully for this same purpose and to have a great command over their mother tongue. We should not let go of an idea or let it fade just because we cannot find the right words for it because our ideas need to be conserved and rather a conscious effort must be made to find words to find the words to express it clearly as it might be possible that the idea can do wonders. What needs to be done is to look for the correct expression to express our ideas clearly. It would be a wrong notion to think that there are no good thoughts that are left to be expressed as everyone loves to hear new ideas and thoughts—the only thing required to master the language and find the right words to express one's feelings.

• Someone said that Pandit Nehru was doing with India what a poet does with words. Children can be made to discuss this idea in small groups to understand how poetry affects people.
• They can be made to understand the importance of words and language in day to day life by writing a sentence on the blackboard and discussing it and also by playing a word game in classes as well.
