1800-102-2727Chapter 7 discusses 'Markets Around Us'. Students will study different market places: a weekly market, neighbourhood shops, a shopping complex, etc. The students will also explore the complex question, 'how do goods reach these markets?' This is done through the case study of a wholesale vegetable market, and students will examine how a chain of markets operates and its role in the market. We will explore how buying and selling happen in different ways to break the myth that 'market' is associated with the marketplaces, The chapter discusses how all of this falls within a larger understanding of markets. Today we are surrounded by advertisements.
We watch these everywhere on television, listen to them on the radio. We see them on the streets and taxis, and rickshaws carry advertisements along with the newspapers and magazines. We will also explore what advertisements do? How do they attract our attention? How they surround us: television, radio, advertisements on hoardings, poles, wall and tree guards, commercials in movie theatres before a film begins and pop up cookies on websites we access.
