1800-102-2727Composed by Edward Lear, "The Duck and the Kangaroo" narrates the story of a duck living in the pond who wishes to travel like the kangaroo. The duck seeing the kangaroo, expressed awe over the fact that the kangaroos' long jumps can take him across fields and water-bodies with such ease. Having spent most of his life in the pond, the duck expresses his desire to travel around the world like the kangaroo, hopping tirelessly without a pause. The duck requests the kangaroo to let him ride on his back and take him to visit all the places around the world.
The duck states that he will not trouble the kangaroo and just quack while sitting on his back. He tells the kangaroo they'll go to "the Dee, and the Jelly Bo Lee". He expresses with great joy that they can travel "over the land and over the sea" together if the kangaroo allows him to ride on his back.
The kangaroo listens to the duck carefully and then expresses concern over the duck's wet feet. He states that the duck's cold and wet feet will make him ill and make his body ache. The duck replied that he bought "worsted socks" to keep the kangaroo safe to the concerns of the kangaroo. He also bought a cloak and cigars to keep himself warm on their journey. On hearing the duck's solution to the problem, the kangaroo was pleased and happily agreed to let him ride on his back. The duck and the kangaroo together set off on their journey in the "pale moonlight". The duck sat at the end of the kangaroo's tail, and they travelled around the world 3 times. Realise
