NCERT Solutions for Class 9 English Beehive Chapter 9 : The Bond of Love

"The bond of love" is Kenneth Anderson's story, which shows a relationship shared by a human being and a sloth bear. The author gifted the sloth bear to his wife. His wife and the bear shared an emotional relationship. It was like a child to the author's wife. The bear's name was Bruno. He was very playful and sweet. He used to play with all the children, and he bonded with everyone, including pet dogs. There was an accident where he ate the poison, which was to kill rats. The poison affected him very badly, and he got paralysed, but after proper treatment, he was saved. Bruno drank up a whole gallon of old engine oils for termites, but it did not affect him. As he grew old, his size increased, and he became a threat to little children. However, he was that same old innocent bear.

Everyone suggested that the zoo keep the bear, but the author's wife resisted it. But unfortunately, the bear had to go. The wife missed him terribly, and she asked everyone else to visit the zoo. She came to know that Bruno was not eating well. She thought to visit him, but everyone told her that Bruno would not be able to recognise her. But it proved to be wrong as soon as she met Bruno he recognised her. She petted and pampered him and spent some quality time with him. She thought to bring him back, and after some paperwork, Bruno came back with her. He was kept on a special island, and they shared the true bond of love.
