1800-102-2727In the story "Packing" by Jerome k Jerome, the narrator went on a trip with his friends, George and Harris. He told them that he would do the packing, so they accepted his offer. The narrator's real intention was to teach his friends the art of packing. However, they misinterpreted his statement, and as a result, the narrator had to do the packing. The narrator started packing, and it took him slightly more time than he had expected. While packing the bag, he forgot to put his boots inside, so, in the end, he had to reopen the bag to put them in. He forgot whether he had put his toothbrush in the bag or not. So, he had to open the bag yet again and empty its content.
He put the contents back into the bag by shaking them one by one and found his toothbrush inside a boot. He had to reopen the bag once again as he forgot his spectacles in the bag. George asked the narrator whether he had packed the soap or not. The narrator got frustrated hearing this as he already opened and packed the bag a few times. So, George and Harris took the task of completing the rest of the packing, and they committed a lot of mistakes while packing. They broke up cups, put things behind them, and packed heavy things on the top of light things and stepped on the things. Then Montmorency (dog) joined the packing and put his legs into the jam and made the thing worse. In the hamper, he attacked three lemons thought to be rats. Finally, the packing ended late in the night at twelve fifty am. Three friends were exhausted, and before sleeping, they argued about when to wake up in the morning. This chapter was almost about humorous incidents when the narrator and his friends were packing for a boat trip.
