NCERT Solutions For Class 9 English Moments Chapter 1 : The Lost Child

The "lost child is a story" was written by Mulk Raj Anand. This is a fascinating story about a child taken to the fair by his parents, and then he was lost. He was super excited and overjoyed. He was attracted to every other thing he watched. He wanted to have toys, barfi, flowers, balloons, but his father declined his entire request. He was attracted by the butterfly's beauty and went to chase him, but his parents called him back. He was so thrilled to see the snake charmer playing the flute but did not go there because he knew he was not allowed.

At last, he requested his father for a roundabout swing but did not get a reply. Later he realised that he was lost. He was scared and cried continuously. A stranger found the child crying. He asked the child about his parents but instead of replying, the child was sobbing and asking for his parents. The man asked the child for a roundabout swing, balloons, snake charmer, sweets, but the child turned down all the offers because he just wanted his parents and nothing else. All the things that he once demanded had lost its charms.

In the story, the child kept asking questions about the things he saw in the fair but never waited for a reply. This story reflects the bond and affection between a child and their parents. The main theme of' The lost child' is a child's requirement for their parents' love and attention.
