The chapter talks about the main asset of a country which is “People.” They act as a resource for the country by earning income, spending money from which a percentage share goes to tax. The importance of Human investment is presented with the story of two characters Sakal and Vilas.

Classification of economic activities done by both men and women are Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary. How education and skills are essential to earn more and get diverse opportunities has been mentioned. The literacy rate and the health care provided for people have also been mentioned. In the end, the chapter shows data about employment and unemployment rate.

  • The chapter begins by focusing on the country's important resource, which is “People,” with whom the country functions.
  • An important point here is that the higher the investment in education, the higher the qualifications and skills of the people, which leads to higher opportunities on the job front with good pay.
  • Gradually, the country develops if there is high literacy among men and women.
  • The primary sector of economic activity includes the production of raw materials such as agriculture, forestry, aquaculture, etc.
  • Whereas the secondary sector consists of manufacturing activities and the tertiary sector concerned with service-based industry
  • To increase education among the poor levels of society, various schemes launched by the government have been included in the chapter.
  • The chapter, finally states the Gross Enrolment Ratio as the measurement of children getting enrolled in schools.
