NCERT Solutions for Class 9 Social Science Geography Chapter 5 - Natural Vegetation and Wildlife

The chapter begins by describing the rich and varied vegetation in India. The country is known for its “Virgin Vegetation” which means most of the country’s vegetation has grown naturally without humans' support. The chapter also specifies that suitable land and soil are needed for dense vegetation which isn’t available in all areas such as plateaus and plains. Temperature, Precipitation, and Sunlight are the common factors required for vegetation.

Further, the chapter outlines the types of vegetation grown in various parts of the country. Then the chapter states the types of Forests and shrubs scattered across India. Natural vegetation also includes the rich medicinal plants that are exclusively grown in India. There are numerous types of animals found in the dense forests of India. With this being said, the chapter then ends with. The Wildlife Protection Act passed by the government and the birds that migrate every year.
