# NCERT Solutions for Class 10 Science Chapter 12- Electricity The NCERT Science Chapter 12 deals with the concept of electricity. Electricity has an important place in modern society. It is a controllable and convenient form of energy for a variety of uses in homes, schools, hospitals, industries. Every appliance we use runs on electricity. It has become an inseparable part of human life.

Just as air and water flow through the currents, electricity flows through the electric current. Electric current flows through materials that have the ability to pass an electric current through them. These materials are called conductors. Conductors like metal wires and power sources come together and form a circuit. In an electric circuit, the charge flows from the positive side of the circuit to the negative side of the circuit. This chapter also talks about some important concepts like Ohms Law, Semi-Conductors and Insulators, Circuits, Difference between Series and Parallel Circuits, Voltage, and Unit of Voltage

It also dwells more on electric potential and potential differences. The voltage here is defined as the potential difference between two terminals. This helps determine the flow of current in the circuit and helps determine the power of the voltage and the magnitude of the current.

Science Chapter 12 electricity tells us about current, voltage, and resistance and the law related to it: the ohm's law. The law helps us calculate the resistance in a circuit using the formula R=V/I.

This law is used in many variations to calculate resistance, voltage and current.

A circuit diagram is a graphical representation of the connections in a circuit. The Science Chapter 12 electricity helps one understand the basic rules and symbols used for drawing a circuit diagram for various circuits.

The resistance of a circuit depends on the material used, and the property of this material to resist current charge is called resistivity. Resistivity is different for different materials. The resistivity is calculated using the formula R=ρ 1/A where R is resistance, ρ(rho) is resistivity, and A is an area of cross-section.

Chapter 12 goes deeper into the concept of resistance and resistivity, where resistors are used as a means to bring about resistance in a circuit. These resistors vary the resistance in a circuit depending on their type of connection. Various formulas help in determining the resistance of the circuit.

Lastly, the chapter talks about the power in an electric charge and the various formulas used for the calculation of the power. Power is defined as the rate at which energy is given out. Electric power is calculated using the formula P=VI where P is power, V is voltage, I is current.
