VITEEE 2025 Cut-off

The VITEEE cut-off is the opening and closing rank for a candidate who can get admission into the various VIT camps. The cut-off keeps on changing each year in accordance with the demand of courses, the number of applicants and the difficulty of the exam.

In popular courses like Computer Science, Electronics, or AI, seats are limited, and only a few top ranks can secure one. However, courses like Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical likely have relatively low cut-off levels.

Campus and Branch-wise Cut-off Trends

  • Computer Science (CSE) at VIT Vellore: Generally needs one of the top two or three ranks. So, this branch only gets high scorers; anything around 115–120 marks gets a top 1000 rank.
  • Electronics and Communication (ECE): VIT Vellore has a cut-off threshold of between 95–100 marks. This might be less for VIT Chennai.
  • Electrical Engineering: Admissions are generally with a score starting from 80–85 marks.

VITEEE 2025 Category-wise Cut-off Ranks

VIT also follows a category system where the rank requirement and tuition fee change depending on which category a student falls into. Here’s an overview:

  • Category 1: Students with top ranks between 1 and 500. They are eligible for in-demand branches like CSE, IT, or AI & DS. The fees in this category are the lowest: ~INR 1.98 lakh per year.
  • Category 2: Comes as 3,500–6,000 ranks. They still enjoy good options but pay higher fees, close to INR 3.07 lakh per year.
  • Category 3: Here we place students ranking between 20,000–25,000. Annual fees increase to nearly INR 4.10 lakh.
  • Category 4: This includes candidates with ranks between 25,000–30,000. The fee climbs to nearly INR 4.90 lakh per year.
  • Category 5: Available for the lowest ranks, above 30,000. Students usually get less popular branches under this category, paying the highest fee structure of INR 5.59 lakh per year.

Factors Influencing the VITEEE 2025 Cut-off

Cutoff scores change from year to year, and a few factors that affect cutoffs include:

  • Number of candidates: The more the number of students appearing for the exam, the more the competition, and the higher the cut-off ranks.
  • Difficulty level of the paper: If an exam is difficult, the cut-off decreases as fewer students score top marks. So the cut-off increases in easier papers.
  • Seat availability: In high-demand courses, the cut-off goes up due to a low number of seats. It can come down a little in case of extra seats.
  • Branch popularity: CSE, IT, and ECE always ask for a higher rank. Civil or Mechanical would generally have lower cut-offs, as fewer students choose.

FAQs

Q1. Why is knowing the cut-off beforehand important?
Ans.
Students have an idea that based on their scores what campus they may get into or what courses they can opt for.

Q2. Can students with a rank above one lakh still get admission?
Ans.
Yes, but their options are usually restricted to the less popular campuses like VIT Bhopal and VIT-AP, and mostly in non-core branches.

Q3. Why are tuition fees different across categories?
Ans.
VIT follows a category-based admission system. Students with better ranks are placed in lower fee categories, while those with higher ranks pay more, especially if opting for less competitive branches.
