RD Sharma Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 7: Algebraic Expressions

An algebraic expression is a mathematical expression made of constants and variables and mathematical operations such as addition, subtraction, etc. They are also termed algebraic equations when the expressions are equated to zero or some other value. Students study various topics, including formation and application algebraic expressions in the RD Sharma Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 7 algebraic expressions. It has three types; monomial expression, binomial expression, and polynomial expression. So, these are the most common ones. But apart from that, there are other additional types as well. They are numeric expressions and variable expressions.

In RD Sharma Solutions for Class 7th Maths Chapter 7 algebraic expressions, students also come across terms such as coefficient of a term, variables, constant, factors of a term, terms of equations, and like and unlike terms. Some examples of these terms are;
If 3x2+7xy+6x+10 is an algebraic expression, then 3x2, 7xy, 6x, 10 are the terms. Coefficient of term x2=3 Constant term = 10 Here are few examples of like and unlike terms, Like terms: 3x and 7x Unlike terms: 3x and 7y So, to determine the factor of a term, if 7xy is a term, then its factors are 7, x, y. Apart from all this, in algebraic expressions, students also learn concepts like finding the value of algebraic expressions, operations on algebraic expressions, the addition of positive like terms, the addition of negative like terms, the addition of algebraic expressions with like and unlike terms, subtraction of algebraic expressions where the students learn how to use all these concepts in a useful way.

Lastly, they learn the usage of grouping symbols in algebra. Grouping symbols are nothing but organising an algebraic problem that has multiple groups. Some of the algebraic grouping symbols are brackets, braces, parentheses, radicals, and fraction lines. These help the students to identify where the group starts and where it ends and also play a vital role in helping the students establish the order which can be used to apply mathematical operations.
