# RD Sharma Solutions for Class 12 Maths Chapter 9 – Continuity

In RD Sharma Solutions for Class 12th Maths Chapter 9 continuity, students obtain an idea of the intuitive notion of continuity. For example, many functions have the property in which their graphs can be traced with a pencil without lifting the pencil from the page. Such functions are termed to be continuous.

Students are taught a topic named continuity at a point. Other than that, they also learn Algebra of continuous function. In this, they learn particularly about four basic things, such as testing the continuity of the function at a point when the function has the same definition on both sides of that given point.

Secondly, they study how to test the continuity of a function when the function has various definitions on both sides of the given point. Then, they learn how to find the values of a constant given in the name of a function when it is continuous at an indicated point. The fourth one is the continuity of opposite functions.

Moreover, a major topic called continuity on an interval is discussed in this chapter. A function is said to be continuous at a point if the below-given conditions are met. Firstly, the function at that point exists being finite, the left and right-hand side of the function is present and the limit Limx-a f x=f (a) where this point is given.

While talking about intervals, students should understand that there are two types, one is continuity on an open interval, and the other one is continuity on a closed interval. They also study the definition and meaning of the continuous function.

Finally, they are taught on the topic known as properties of continuous function. Students will study how to solve testing of the continuity of a function in its domain. Similarly, they also get an idea of finding the values of a constant given in the definition of a function where it is continuous on its domain.
