PGIMER Counselling

Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, is a popular public medical institute established in 1962. Recognised as of national importance, it offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. PGIMER conducts counselling to guide eligible candidates through the admission process, ensuring a smooth transition into its various courses.

PGIMER Counselling Dates 2025 

For the year 2025, the counselling dates for different programs were as follows: 

MD/MS Courses 

The 3rd physical counselling/seat allotment for candidates who qualified at the Institute of National Importance Combined Entrance Test (INICET), July 2025, was held on August 27, 2025. The counselling process was online, and attendance of participating candidates was mandatory. 

B. Sc Paramedical and Bachelor of Public Health Course

The counselling for these two courses is set to be held in two rounds. The first round of physical counselling at PGI, Chandigarh, was held on August 26, 2025. The second round of counselling will take place on September 24, 2025. 

B. Sc. Nursing 

The counselling for the undergraduate course (B. Sc.) in nursing was conducted on August 14, 2025. 

M. Sc Nursing 

The 3rd or MOP-UP round of physical counselling for admission to M.Sc nursing for the session 2025 was held on July 31, 2025. 

M. Sc Medical Biotechnology 

The counselling for DBT-sponsored M. Sc Medical Biotechnology was held on August 5, 2025, at PGIMER, Chandigarh. 

Process of Counselling at PGIMER

The counselling is generally held offline. The process is simple and involves the following steps: 

• Candidates qualify for the exam 
• Authority calls shortlisted candidates for interview and document verification (The process can be repeated three times to a maximum to fill the total available seats in respective programmes)
• Document verification involves presenting the original and hard copy of the required documents specific to the opted course. It involves submission of marksheets, certificates, exam admit card, result and other such important documents. 
• The result with the names of selected candidates is then displayed on the website. It is followed by a notice for subsequent rounds of counselling until the seats are filled. 
• Candidates willing to take admission are also notified about the further process to follow, which includes fee payment. They must take the mentioned action within the stipulated time to get their seat. Inability to do so may lead to cancellation of admission.
