1800-102-2727Chapter 13 "Limits and Derivatives" is the gateway to the Calculus section of class 11 Mathematics. Calculus, which is also called derivatives, limits, and algebra of limits, is defined as an offshoot of Mathematics that studies the change in the function value when the points in the domain change. Further, students will acquire knowledge of derivatives without defining it.
In the second half of the chapter, limits are defined along with some of its algebra. In the end, the chapter discusses the description of derivatives and some of their algebraic properties. Students will find two exercises to solve in this chapter and a miscellaneous exercise covering all the topics. The topics have been explained below in a gist.
The derivative of a function has been defined under this topic using real-life examples of distance travelled at separate intervals of time.
Limits have been discussed in this topic with explanations on sub-topics, like the algebra of limits, and limits of rational and polynomial functions.
Here, prepositions and theorems for functions that are needed to calculate the limits of a few trigonometric functions have been demonstrated.
How solutions to a variety of derivative problems can be found, algebra of derivatives of functions, and derivatives of trigonometric and polynomial functions are the sub-topics explained here.
