# NCERT Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 2: Fractions and decimals A fraction is used to represent the portion of the whole thing. It has two parts, numerator and denominator. The upper part is called the numerator, and the lower part is called the denominator. Factors having denominators in 10 or multiple of 10 like 100,1000 etc. can be expressed as decimals. In Ex 2.1 You will recollect whatever you have done in previous class like fraction and it's type, representation of fraction in the number line, ordering of fraction, addition and subtraction of factors, decimals and their addition, keeping a point etc. In Ex 2.2, you will learn to multiply the fraction by two methods. One is by using a whole number, and other is by using a portion.

In Ex 2.3, students will learn how to divide the fraction. There are three concepts of division. In Ex 2.4, you will recall decimals like expressing heights, distance, weights, measuring value, interest rates, shares, fractions, etc. In Ex 2.5, you will learn about the multiplication of decimals.
