NCERT Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 15: Visualising Solid Shapes

Many shapes and figures that we come across in our regular life will be classified as per dimensions in this chapter. The basic thing that is common among any given shape or figure is that they all have some length, breadth, height or depth, so they are classified on that basis. This chapter will get a great idea about what 2 Dimension and 3 Dimension stand for and a measurable extent of a particular kind, such as length, breadth, depth, or height is called dimension. Ex 15.1 In this exercise students will be able to identify the difference between edges, sides and vertices. They will be able to know about nets that are required to build 3D shapes. Ex 15.2 In this exercise students will learn how to draw 3D shapes on a plane surface they will learn and practice oblique sketches and isometric sketches.

Ex 15.3 In this exercise, students will practice visualising different 3 Dimensional shapes and how to view different sections of a solid by cutting. Students will learn to have a slicing play, have some kitchen fun and more other interesting things. Ex 15.4 In this exercise students will have a fun time learning how to play with the shadows of different shapes of solid. Some important topics for this chapter are:

  • Introduction plane figures and solid shapes
  • Faces, edges and vertices
  • Nets for building 3D shapes
  • Drawings solids on a flat surface
  • Viewing different sections of a solid
