UPES Admission Process
Admissions in UPES are done based on both the entrance exam and merit.
- How to Apply:
- Candidates have to visit the official website and complete the application form and pay the application fee (₹1350, all courses), within the specified deadline.
- After the application process, students are then shortlisted based on their qualifications and eligibility criteria. Usually, based on the national level entrance exams, or the university itself conducts the exams.
- To ensure that the student is suitable for the specified program, the candidate might be asked to provide the university with a Statement of Purpose.
- The candidate then has a personal interview round.
- The university then contacts the shortlisted candidates via email or any other means after the interview round.
- To secure their seat, the shortlisted candidate then has to proceed with their document verification and course fee payment as required.
- Entrance Exams and Selection:
- UG: CLAT, UPESMET UG, LSAT India, ULSAT, UCEED, JEE, Board Merit, NID, SAT, NIFT, CUET, UGAT, UPESDAT, UPESEAT scores are accepted. (Minimum 50% in 10+2 from a recognised board is also necessary)
- PG: UPESDAT, NMAT, MAT, XAT, UPESMET, CAT, CEED scores are accepted. Different courses do have different thresholds for the graduation scores, usually between the range of 50-60%.
- PhD: GATE, CSIR, GPAT, UGC NET, RET(exempted for candidates who already have given any accepted entrance exam), SET scores are accepted. It is also required that the candidates have a Master's degree with at least 55% (for the reserved category, 50%).
- Important Dates:
- Applications are currently open for all the undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and the last date to apply = 30th July, 2025
- UPESPAT, UPESEAT, and UPESDAT exams 2025: To be conducted on 9th July, 2025.
- UPESMET UG exam 2025: To be conducted on 26th July, 2025

Scholarships and Financial Aid at the UPES

- Entry-Level Merit Scholarship (UG, first year): Based on Class 12 board, JEE or CUET scores, the university provides a scholarship to first-year students ranging between 10-30%.
- Uttarakhand Domicile Scholarship: If the student is a domicile of Uttarakhand and has a family income less than INR 12 Lakhs, along with their ‘Sthai Niwas Praman Patra’ Certificate, they are eligible to receive a 30% scholarship.
- MBA Program Scholarship: A 20% scholarship is given to students pursuing an MBA in the first year if they have an NMAT score > 200, a CAT score > 85th percentile, or a minimum 80% in graduation.
- MTech Program Scholarship: In order for the students to be eligible for this scholarship, they must have GATE scores > 85th percentile. They can receive up to ₹12,400/month.
- MDes Program Scholarship: A teaching assistant-based scholarship, students can receive up to ₹3000.
- Sports Scholarship: 35-100% scholarship given depending on level and medal status (national/international) for sports achievers.
- Academic Performance Scholarship (from 2nd year onward): Scholarship based on the academic performance of the student given in both UG and PG courses. 1st rank: 20%, 2nd rank: 15%, rest (if applicable): 10%
