About University of Kashmir: Overview

Located at Hazratbal, Srinagar, the University of Kashmir is a public institution. It was established in the year 1948 and bifurcated in 1969. Spread across 247 acres, the campus includes Hazratbal, Naseem Bagh, and Mirza Bagh sections, with additional land at Zakura for future expansion. Admissions for 2025 are currently open. Depending on the course, admission is either merit-based or through entrance exams. The application process can be done online as well as offline via the official Kashmir University portal. For distance courses like M.A., B.Ed., and M.Sc., admissions are processed through the Directorate of Distance Education (DDE).

Admission to professional courses like MBA, MTTM, B.Ed, etc., involves appearing in entrance tests like JEE Main, JKCET, CMAT, or UGAT. After the entrance test, students may also need to participate in counselling (if applicable).
