IIIT-Delhi was created primarily for education and research by the Act of the Delhi Legislature. It is now governed by the General Council, chaired by the Hon’ble Lt. Governor of Delhi. The IIIT-D campus has 25 lecture halls with capacities ranging from 25 to over 300. It also has a 500-seat auditorium and well-equipped laboratories, encouraging practical learning among the students. The campus also houses six state-of-the-art research centres, which include the Centre for Computational Biology; Infosys Centre for Artificial Intelligence; Centre for Design and New Media supported by the TCS Foundation; Centre of Sustainable Mobility; Centre of Technology in Policing; Centre of Excellence in Healthcare; Centre of Excellence for Lifi/VLC.
The campus has four hostels with separate accommodation facilities for male and female students. The institute also provides accommodation for married PhD candidates. The hostel rooms allow high-speed internet connectivity for unhindered academic purposes.
