Bangalore University Admission Process
Admissions in Bangalore University are done on the basis of both, entrance exam and merit.
- How to Apply:
- Candidates have to visit the official website and register there for the application form. If a candidate is applying offline, they can collect the form from the concerned college.
- They have to fill out the online admission form, wherein they are required to upload documents such as recent photographs, mark sheets, Aadhaar Card or valid government ID, certificates, etc.
- The candidates are then required to pay the application fee and wait for the merit list to be announced.
- The shortlisting is different for different courses; some courses accept the entrance exam score (the candidate has to appear for counselling based on the entrance exam), whereas others are done based on merit. The university then releases a list of shortlisted candidates.
- The shortlisted candidate then proceeds with their document verification and course fee payment as required.
- Entrance Exams and Selection:
- UG: CUET/UGAT/JET, KCET/COMEDK (for B.E. courses), JEE Paper 2/NATA (for B.Arch. course), other courses require a minimum of 45% for general and 40% for reserved categories in 10+2 from a recognised board.
- PG: KMAT/MAT/CAT/XAT/ATMA/GMAT/NMAT, PGCET or equivalent entrance exam (for MBA), Bachelor's in Maths in graduation (for MCA, could require an entrance exam), at least 50% marks for general and 45% for reserved categories in the candidate's Bachelor's degree.
- PhD: Selection to the PhD program at Bangalore University is based on an entrance examination, which is followed by a mandatory interview. The candidate must have a minimum of 55% in their Master's degree.
- Important Dates:
- BCA 2025: Total academic fee of the 2025-26 session is ₹ 1.07 L.
- LLM 2025: Apply by 28th July, 2025, for online application. Admission based on CET (Common Entrance Exam), which is set to be conducted on 14th August,2025.
- BE/BTech 2025: Seat allotment of Round 1 counselling of KCET 2025 is set to be announced on 2nd August ,2025

- Government of India Post-Metric Scholarship: The Karnataka SC/ST students with a family's yearly income of ₹2.5 lakhs or less are eligible for this scholarship.
- Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child: A single girl child or twin girl children are eligible for this scholarship. The applications are accepted only in online mode.
- Special Scholarships: These scholarships are awarded to children of government/university employees who have passed away while in service (managed by the Director of Collegiate Education or the university).
- Minorities Scholarship: Students who are from minority communities like Muslims, Christians, etc., and whose family's income is less than ₹44,500/-year can get help through this scholarship. This scholarship covers fee reimbursement, handled by the Minorities Welfare Department (MWD).
- Vice Chancellor's Merit Scholarship: Each year, department-wise, the top rankers (1st-5th) from families below the poverty line receive ₹500/month for 10 months. It is important to note that students cannot avail more than one scholarship at a time. Also, the students staying in university hostels are not eligible for any of the scholarships, be it university or government-funded.
