The University of Delhi (DU), established in 1922, is a Public Central University located in New Delhi, India. University of Delhi Admission Process

The admission process in the University of Delhi is a centralised one. This eases the student’s process since the university has many affiliated institutions.

• • How to Apply: 
    • Candidates have to first register for the relevant CUET (UG or PG) exam conducted by NTA.
    • Once the results are declared, candidates apply through dedicated online portals, such as the UG CSAS or the PG/B.Tech registration portal. On the portal, applicants are required to select their preferred courses and colleges. Application fees vary by programme and category.
    • Allotment of seats is done on the basis of CUET score, preference, category and availability of seat.
  • Entrance Exams and Selection: Admission is largely entrance-based, followed by counselling.
    • UG: UG admissions primarily use CUET UG, JEE Main for B.Tech, and CLAT for BA/BBA LLB.
    • PG: PG courses mainly use CUET PG, with CAT for MBA. 
    • PhD: PhD admissions require national entrance tests such as NTA PhD Entrance Test, UGC-NET (including JRF)/ UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/ AYUSH-NET/DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, DST-INSPIRE, and GATE. 
    • Diploma and Certificate Courses: Entry is based on merit or personal interview.

• School of Distance Education: Admissions to the School of Open Learning (SOL) are conducted online through the official SOL website: https://sol.du.ac.in. Admission is granted purely based on merit, removing the need for any entrance exams.

• Tentative Dates: 
  • The University made announcements regarding UG admissions and allocation schedules. The Academic Calendar for all UG and PG Programs for 2025-26 was posted on July 4, 2025.
  • Classes begin from August 1, 2025 (Friday).
  • The 1st allocation list for DU CSAS‑UG 2025 was released on July 19, 2025, and candidates were required to pay their fees by July 23, 2025.
  • The 2nd allocation list is scheduled for release on July 28, 2025 at 5 pm.

  • Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Award for Toppers in Minority category: All the students (SC/ST/OBC minority categories) who are outstanding performers in professional or technical degree courses are awarded this scholarship. The top-ranking students receive monetary awards of INR 25,000.

Admissions for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with selection primarily determined by the CUET UG and CUET PG examinations, are currently open. The 1st list for allocation in DU CSAS-UG 2025 has been released, based on the CUET-UG 2025 scores. In the MA course and the M.Tech courses, CUET-PG scores are also accepted as results.
