# NCERT Solutions for Class 7 Maths Chapter 11: Perimeter and Area Perimeter means the total length boundary of something and Area is the space occupied by the two-dimensional figure. It is very important to understand the basis of this chapter clearly. In Ex 11.1, students are going to recall how to calculate the length, breadth, perimeter and areas of square and rectangle. In Ex 11.2 you will understand topics like triangles as parts of rectangles, generalising for other congruent parts of rectangles, area of a parallelogram, and triangle area. In Ex 11.3, students will learn how to find out the circumference and area of a circle. The perimeter of a circle is called the circumference of the circle.

The value of pi is 3.14 in two decimal places, and its value is equal to 22/7. Circumference of a circle = 2πr and Area of a circle= πr2. In Ex 11.4 you have to find out areas of squares, rectangles circle etc. of some real application based things like a pathway, garden, parks, border, some space is left all around the path or in-between as cross paths and cost of making them. Some important topics and sub-topics of this chapter are:

• Squares and rectangles
• Triangles as part of rectangles
• Other congruent parts of Triangles
• Area of a parallelogram
• Area of triangle
• Circumference of a circle
• Area of a circle
• Conversion of units
• Application
