Details about the Jee Main Examination for the 2021 session were recently announced by the NTA (National Testing Agency). According to the new guidelines, candidates are permitted to appear for the exam 4 times in the year.

JEE Main 2021 February Application Form Dates

Due to the current pandemic, NTA has revised the guidelines to give candidates the chance to appear for the exam multiple times in the year. Candidates can now attempt the JEE Main exam 4 times in the year, in multiple languages.

How to apply for the JEE Main 2021 Examination

There are five steps a candidate has to complete in order to successfully apply for the JEE Main exam

Step 1: Register for JEE Main Exam

It is important for candidates to ensure they meet the eligibility criteria before they begin the application process. To know more about the eligibility criteria of the JEE Main exam you can click here.

If a candidate is appearing for the exam for the first time, they need to register their details on the official website of the JEE Main exam. They will also need to make a password that can be used for all future logins to correct application form, download admit card, and check the result. Candidates that have already registered on the website before do not have to register again.

They can log in with their old credentials.

Step 2: Fill the online JEE Main application form

Candidates then have to fill their personal, academic and contact details in the application form and take note of the system generated application number given to them. Below are the details that the candidates should fill in the application form.

  • Exam - Choice of paper - B.E./B.Tech or B.Arch or B.Planning. They should also choose their preferred language for the exam
  • Personal - In this section, candidates have to present their name, category, father's name, mother's name and more.
  • Academic - Candidates have to provide their details about class X and XII qualifying examination
  • Communication - Candidates must give their residential and correspondence details.
  • Guardian Details - In this section, candidates have to give details about their parents/guardian's occupation, qualifications and annual income among others.
  • Preferred exam cities - Candidates have chosen from the list of cities to pick their 4 preferred choices for the exam

Step 3: Upload scanned documents

The third step of the process involves the uploading of the candidate’s scanned photograph and signature in the specifications prescribed on the website. It is helpful to have these scanned versions prepared in advance before beginning the form filling process. Some of the things the candidates need to keep in mind during this time are:

 - The photograph should be coloured or black/white with the name of the candidate and date of taking the photograph printed on it

 - The candidate should not be wearing a cap or sunglasses in the photograph

 - Spectacles are allowed

 - Polaroid photos will not be accepted

 - Candidates having unclear photographs will be rejected

 - It is advisable for the candidates to keep 6-8 identical photographs for all future purposes including the seat allocation and admission process

Step 4: Pay the JEE Main 2021 April application fees

The candidates can only pay the application fees in online mode. This includes - Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/Paytm/UPI

Step 5: Print the confirmation page

The last step in the application process is to take four printouts of the confirmation page, after the successful payment of examination fees. It is important to keep the acknowledgment page till the admission process is completed.

JEE Main 2021 April Application Form Correction Window

The NTA (National Testing Agency) provides a time frame within which candidates are permitted to make edits/changes/updates in the details on the JEE Main application form. For the February Session, candidates are permitted to make corrections to their application form from 19th January 2021, to 21st February 2021 for the February Session. Candidates can access their form through their application number and password on the JEE Main website. The step-by-step process of making corrections is given below:

  •  - Visit the official website of the JEE Main examination
  •  - Enter the Application Number, Password, Security Pin (displayed on the screen) and log in
  •  - Click on ‘Manage Form Particulars Correction’ to edit and make changes
  •  - Read the instructions carefully
  •  - Edit the information and make the changes
  •  - Pay an additional fee if required

Documents to preserve after submitting JEE Main 2021 application form

Once the candidates complete the application process, there are certain documents that they need to hold on to. These are:

  •  - JEE Main registration confirmation mail along with the printout
  •  - JEE Main admit card 2021 issued by NTA
  •  - Few passport size photographs, the ones used while filling JEE Main application form

How to check JEE Main April Application Form status?

There is a provision given by the NTA on the official website that provides candidates with an option to check their progress on the JEE Main application form. The “Application Form Progress” feature is usually available on the left corner of the JEE Main application window. Candidates can check their status for the below-mentioned parts of the application process:

  •  - View Application Form
  •  - View Scanned Images
  •  - View Payment Status
  •  - Payment Status

JEE Main Common Service Centres (CSCs)

For candidates that are not familiar with the process of filling JEE Main application forms online can get help at the Common Service Centres (CSCs) set up by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India. There are currently 1.5 lakh CSCs providing service to the National Testing Agency (NTA), to provide aid to students belonging to urban as well as rural areas. They help the candidates fill their JEE Main application form, pay the fees, upload documents, download their admit card and more by charging a nominal fee + GST.

What after the JEE Main 2021 Application Form?

Only after successfully completing the registration process can the candidates download the \ JEE Main admit card. This is the most important document that should be carried to the test centre. Without it, candidates will not be allowed to take the exam.
