GPAT Full Form and Overview

GPAT or Graduate Pharmacy Aptitude Test is an entrance examination conducted online, i.e, a computer-based test. It is conducted for postgraduate or MPharma students across India. The conducting body of the exam is the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences(NBEMS). Nearly 55,000 candidates take the exam every year.

The GPAT 2027 notification is yet to be released by NBEMS. Based on the 2026 schedule, GPAT 2027 registration is expected to open in the last week of December 2026, and the exam is likely to be held in the first week of March 2027. NBEMS conducts GPAT on behalf of the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). The score is used for admission to M.Pharm courses and for the award of M.Pharm scholarships. 

GPAT 2027 Latest Updates 

NBEMS has not yet released the GPAT 2027 information bulletin on natboard.edu.in. Going by the 2026 cycle, the bulletin and online registration are expected in the last week of December 2026. The exam is likely to be held in the first week of March 2027.

The previous cycle, GPAT 2026, was held on 7 March 2026 in computer-based mode. NBEMS declared the GPAT 2026 result by 7 April 2026 on its official website. 

To view the result, the registered candidate should visit the official GPAT website, log in through their application number, password/ date of birth, and enter the security pin.

GPAT Exam Dates 2027

GPAT 2027 is expected to be held in the first week of March 2027 as a computer-based test conducted by NBEMS. Registration is likely to run from late December 2026 to mid-January 2027, and the result is expected in the first week of April 2027. Exact dates will be confirmed in the official information bulletin.

The official schedule for GPAT 2027 is yet to be released. The dates below are based on previous year trends, with the official GPAT 2026 dates shown in brackets.

GPAT Application Process 2027

To apply for the GPAT 2027 exam, follow the step-by-step process, which guides you throughout the application journey. Applications are accepted only online through the NBEMS website once the GPAT 2027 bulletin is released.

• Registration: Visit https://natboard.edu.in and fill out the basic details, and upload the required documents, like a passport-sized photo and the candidate's educational certificates.
• Fee Payment: As per the GPAT 2026 bulletin, the fee was INR 3,500 for General, OBC and EWS candidates and INR 2,500 for SC, ST and PwD candidates. The GPAT 2027 fee will be confirmed in the official notification.
• Payment mode: As it is an online examination, the payment will be made online using credit/ debit cards or any other available online payment methods.
• Confirmation Page: Download and print the confirmation page for future reference.
• Admit card: The GPAT 2027 admit card is expected in the first week of March 2027 (it was released on 2 March in 2026). The candidate must bring a printed copy to the test centre on the date of the exam.

GPAT 2027 Eligibility Criteria 

To appear for GPAT 2027, a candidate must be an Indian citizen with a four-year B.Pharm degree (lateral entry included) from a recognised university. As per the GPAT 2026 bulletin, final-year and pre-final-year B.Pharm students can also apply. B.E./B.Tech (Pharmaceutical and Fine Chemical Technology) holders are not eligible.

GPAT 2027 Exam Pattern Overview

GPAT 2027 is expected to follow the 2026 pattern. It is a 3-hour computer-based test with 125 MCQs worth 500 marks, in English only. Each correct answer earns 4 marks, 1 mark is deducted for a wrong answer, and unattempted questions get zero. The paper is split into time-bound sections, and you cannot go back to a section once its time ends.

GPAT Admit Card 2027

NBEMS is expected to release the GPAT 2027 admit card in the first week of March 2027 on natboard.edu.in. Candidates must carry a colour printout along with one valid original photo ID, such as a PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport or Aadhaar card with photograph.

While the GPAT exam is conducted by NBEMS, the counselling process will be handled by the participating colleges and institutions. GPAT Counselling is done in 4 stages:

• Document Verification: You have to bring the original documents to the institution for verification. 

• Choosing Preferences: Once verified, you have to select the preference list for your colleges and courses.

• Reporting to College: Once you are allotted the seat, you have to report to your particular college and complete the admission process with the complete fee.
