JSS Medical College was established in 1984-85. After a long period, which was affiliated with the University of Health Science, it later became affiliated with Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (1995-1996). Now, the college is a constituent of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research, established under Section 3 of the UGC Act on 28-05-2008. The university is NAAC A++ accredited. The Medical Council of India recognises it.
