Functioning under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation of the Government of India, the Indian Statistical Institute was founded on 17 December 1931 in Kolkata. Providing higher education programs across disciplines such as statistics, mathematics and information science, the Government of India has granted ISI the INI Status under the Indian Statistical Institute Act, 1959.
The public research university has its main campus in Kolkata, spanning over 30 acres, stretching across six address blocks with segregated office and residential complexes. Other ISI campuses are in New Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Tezpur.

Highlights:
ISI Kolkata provides no scholarships; however, there are stipend opportunities available for various research programs. Non-sponsored candidates are not required to pay any tuition fee for any of the programmes. Stipends are granted for one semester/ academic year only and renewed periodically, dependent on the student’s progress. The same is the case for research fellowships, with monthly stipends being provided to the students. Spread across 30 acres, the ISI Kolkata campus is divided into two approximately equal parts - the office complex and the residential complex - separated by Girish Chand Ghosh Street. Both of the complexes are segregated, and the office complex contains all the necessary buildings dedicated to different disciplines. The following are highlights of the campus amenities:

No, ISI Kolkata, or any other ISI Campus, have not been accredited by The National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
Q2. Can parents stay at ISI Kolkata?
Yes, the Kolkata Campus of ISI provided a Guest House facility at the newly constructed three-storey building. There are single, double and suite rooms available to book. Additionally, there is a detailed price list available for meals that the guests can refer to.
Q3. What are the application fees at ISI Kolkata?
In order to complete the online application procedure, candidates need to pay an application fee. The amounts are Rs. 1250/- (General category) and Rs. 625/- (SC/ST/OBC). The fees can be paid via SBI Collect/ NetBanking, Debit/ Credit Card or through Challan for cash payment at the SBI Branch.

Yes, ISI Kolkata and other ISIs conduct their entrance examination known as the ISI Test, whose scorecard serves as the basis for admission into various offered programs. The contains both MCQ and Descriptive questions, based on the previously studied curriculum.
