History of CISCE

The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) was established by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate, on 3 November 1958, at the meeting of the Inter-State Board for Anglo-Indian Education. The Council was set up to help the Syndicate adapt the examinations conducted by them according to the needs of the country. While in 1967, the Council got itself registered as a Society under the Societies Registration Act 1860, about six years later in 1973 the Council was listed in the Delhi School Education Act 1973 as a body conducting the public examinations. The CISCE governs the examination for ICSE (class 10) and ISC (class 12). The examinations are conducted on annual basis.

CISCE Syllabus

The ICSE and ISC syllabus consists of both external and internal examinations. The internal assessments are carried out by schools on the basis of assignments or project work, practicals and course work. These marks are then added to your external examination marks and an aggregate percentage is taken of the total. The aggregate percentage will decide if the student has passed or failed the examination. A minimum of 35% is to be achieved by the students to receive a pass certificate. The internal assessment marks are submitted to the Council by the schools.
