JEE Mains is a national-level entrance exam through which students get admission into courses like B.Tech., B.Arch., B.Plan & B.E in various NITs, IITs, and CFTIs. The NTA, or National Testing Agency, conducts the JEE Main exam. To apply for this exam, candidates can visit the official website and download the application form. The National Testing Agency will be releasing the JEE Main exam pattern on its official website. The JEE Main 2022 exam will be held for two Papers- Paper 1 (B.E, B.Tech) and Paper 2 (B.Arch or B.Plan).

The JEE Main 2022 exam will be held online, except for the B.Arch Drawing test. For Paper 1- each subject will have 20 MCQs or Multiple Choice Questions along with 10 Numerical Value Questions. Students have to attempt only five questions out of these 10 Numerical Value Questions.

JEE Main Exam Pattern- New Changes

2019 onwards, the exam regulating body- NTA has introduced a few changes in the JEE Main Exam pattern and JEE Main 2022 syllabus. Let us have a look at them-

  • The JEE Main exam will be conducted in four sessions instead of the earlier two. 
  • Paper 1 will have 90 questions. Out of these 90 questions, 20 will be asked in section A, and 10 in section B. Candidates can answer 75 questions- 20 in section A and 5 in section B.
  • Paper 2 is for B.Arch courses and will have 82 questions for the candidates to answer. However, candidates can choose to answer any 77 questions. The division for each subject is as follows- Mathematics- 25; Aptitude- 50; Drawing- 2. The marks allotted for this paper is 400.
  • Paper 2B will have 105 questions, out of which students will be required to attempt any 100. The total marks for this exam are out of 400.
  • In the numerical section of both Paper 2A and Paper 2B, candidates do not have to answer only 5 out of the ten numerical based questions given in the maths section.
  • To increase diversity, the JEE Main exam paper will be provided in 13 different languages.
