- Movement of the earth on its axis is rotation. It takes the earth 24 hours to complete one rotation.
- Movement of the earth on its orbit is a revolution. It takes the earth approximately 365 days to complete one revolution.
- We would study how to locate the orbital plane and the line of illumination of the globe.
- If the rotation of earth didn't happen, then it would always be warm on one side of the earth, and the other side would always be cold.
- The chapter also tells us about leap years and how to calculate the next leap year.
- We also read about the four major seasons on earth – summer, winter, spring, and autumn.
- These seasons also affect the summer and winter solstices.
- The chapter ends by telling us about the equinox, i.e., days of the year when the earth experiences equal length of days and nights.
