About NIELIT Srinagar
NIELIT Srinagar began in 1982. The Union IT department, the J&K State Industrial Development Corporation and the University of Kashmir started it together. It now sits under NIELIT Deemed to be University as one of 11 centres. That university is the only one under the Ministry of Electronics and IT, and it has Distinct Category status under the 2023 UGC regulations.

NIELIT Srinagar Admission Process
B.Tech seats are filled through JoSAA on JEE score, and whatever is left afterwards goes to the university’s own entrance test. M.Tech splits in two: half through CCMT on GATE score, half through the entrance test held after CCMT. BCA, B.Sc and M.Sc have no counselling route. It is the entrance test only.
Test registration happens on the NDU registration portal. B.Tech applicants also register with JoSAA, and M.Tech applicants with CCMT. Once a seat is allotted, you report to the campus with your documents and pay the first fee instalment by the reporting date.
Last year’s dates are a rough guide. BCA registration at Srinagar had two windows on the portal. The first ran from March 27 to June 16. The second ran from June 19 to July 26. B.Sc (AI/ML) had a spot round on August 20. Nothing official is out for 2027. If the pattern holds, registration could open in late March.
NIELIT Srinagar 2027 Fees
These numbers come from the university’s 2026-27 fee memorandum. Tuition is split into two instalments each semester. Semester I costs more because it carries a Rs 5,000 admission fee and a Rs 5,000 security deposit.
B.Tech tuition is Rs 50,000 a semester, and the semester I bill comes to Rs 67,500. For BCA, tuition is Rs 30,000 and semester I costs Rs 47,500. B.Sc is Rs 25,000 and Rs 42,500. M.Sc is Rs 32,000 and Rs 49,500. M.Tech is Rs 60,000 and Rs 77,500.
Every semester has a Rs 2,500 exam fee. Odd semesters also add a Rs 5,000 academic fee. Work it out for B.Tech and year one is Rs 1,20,000: Rs 67,500 for semester I and Rs 52,500 for semester II. For BCA it is Rs 80,000. Hostel and mess are extra. Each campus sets its own, and no official page we found lists Srinagar’s rates.
Paying the first instalment late costs money. It is Rs 1,000 within 15 days of the reporting date and Rs 2,000 within 30 days. SC/ST students don’t pay tuition or exam fees, under Government of India rules, as the fee page states for 2025-26.
Documents and Attendance
Students report with 10th and 12th mark sheets, a date of birth proof, Aadhaar, a migration certificate, a medical fitness certificate and an anti-ragging undertaking. For B.Tech there are three extra papers: the JEE Main score card, the JoSAA allotment letter and the seat acceptance fee receipt. All of it is on the common admission form, which also sets a 75% attendance rule for exams.
Cut-off and Placements
B.Tech cut-offs come from JoSAA opening and closing ranks, which sit on the JoSAA portal. Srinagar placement figures are left out. No official placement report or NIRF submission was found at the time of writing.
